Our Unique Approach

A Private Academy

We operate like a private school. The school year begins in September, and ends in late May. We also have a full summer semester for continued training until the next school year begins. Each program is limited to 12 students. This allows for the students and instructor to create a stronger relationship, achieve better results, and have a more intimate learning environment. Students are not quitting or joining each month, which you commonly see in normal martial arts schools. This unique approach allows for us to integrate impressive new training methods and curricula, to see your child reach their potential!

Character Excellence

At the Kids Academy, we develop character through hard work, going after our goals, pushing through challenges, and a supportive environment. Not only do parents see a positive change in their child’s behavior within the first few weeks, but our goal is to ingrain positive habits for the rest of their life. The foundation lesson of martial arts begins with the importance or respect, self-control, and focus. These are not just words, but necessary building blocks for becoming an all-star martial artist, and future leader.

We also have a special themed chat at the end of class over a particular topic. Each month, there is a different Character Excellence theme, such as: Perseverance, Service, Grit, Environment, Leadership, Nutrition, and many more. Students will have a special homework assignment to complete, as well as a community action, and are required to maintain good grades at school, and good behavior at home in order to earn their stripe. These stripes are necessary in order to be eligible to test for the next belt, it is a positive nudge toward the goal that they are going after!

Black Belt Skills

Through intense and concise martial arts practice, students will develop physical and mental black belt skills. These are skills that will bring strength, poise, and confidence. Each month, we focus on a different black belt skill, to fully develop the student’s physical and mental abilities.

Fun & Fitness

Each class is filled with challenging exercises, drills, partner practice, striking bags, self defense techniques, and plenty of motivation. Students are pushed to do more than they did in the last class, and are working on constant progress, without giving up. This hard work is made fun with games, and unique drills, so that no two classes are the same. Every student leaves class with a smile on their face, and often, with sweat pouring down their uniform!

Benefits for Your Child

  • Increased Focus & Concentration – In martial arts training, we learn to focus and concentrate all of our energy on one point. This is learned through countless repetition, drilling, learning forms, and even sparring. Focus is like a muscle, the more that we use it, the stronger it gets. This high ability to concentrate translates well into school, reading, and any other activity.
  • Greater Respect for Others – Lesson number one is martial arts is to learn how to bow. Bowing is an ancient form of showing respect to another. We use the bow as a way to show our respect to others; to the instructor, to your parents, and to your fellow peers. By teaching respect for others, students begin to live life through the lens of the golden rule.
  • Self-Control – Learning to control oneself is the true path to self-mastery, if you have greater control over your body, mind, and impulses, you can truly achieve any goal that you set. By teaching our students how to control their body, quiet their mind, and have precise muscle control, we see a transformation from beginner to expert. A student with great self-control can be an incredible martial artist, and leader for others.
  • Self-Discipline – Doing what is right, being responsible, and being able to have the discipline to get up every day ready to work toward a goal. This is a defining characteristic of leaders that we want to instill in our students.
  • Goal Setting – In martial arts, students are working to achieve the ultimate goal of a black belt. This is an amazing goal to achieve, one that can take 4-5 years. By learning to set a goal, and then achieve mini-goals along the way (a stripe every month, and a belt test every three months), students learn how to become achievers.
  • Fitness – Staying active and energetic becomes more important in this digital world. Martial arts gets kids off of their tablets and phones, and back into an important, and purposeful form of exercise. Our classes will help keep your child in great shape, and gain new levels of agility and flexibility.
  • Leadership – The Kids Academy is a special place, where we grow the next generation of leaders. By undertaking community projects, and leading by example, our kids learn that the best way to lead, is to serve.
